Sport Training

Our sport training programs (individual or group) are perfect for the athlete that wants to learn how to train in a safe environment. We will teach your athlete the proper way to lift so they can stay safe in their training both with us and without. Our focus is to work on your athlete’s goals which may include: maximize strength, flexibility, power, speed and endurance. We use evidence and research to ensure your athlete is learning the appropriate skills for their age and applying them in a safe way.

Off Season Sport Training

Our off season training programs are perfect for clubs/teams that want to stay healthy year round. We cater to the sport and using our PT and Strength and Conditioning backgrounds to create programs to maximize strength, flexibility, power, speed and endurance all with an overarching goal of decreasing injury potential. Our attendees gain knowledge about how to best support their bodies as well as improve their confidence both on and off the court! Reach out to kelly@ptuclinic.com to find out how your athlete can attend or to set up a training session for your team!

Physical Therapy U is dedicated to providing training and guidance to all youth clients regardless of financial limitations. If your child is in grades 5-8 and would benefit from the guidance of our trained professionals for prevention of sports injuries and strength training, our partnership with ConfiKids Non-profit Organization could make attending our programs possible.

Please read ConfiKids “How It Works” page and if you believe your child would be eligible, apply online 2-3 weeks before the start of our program. ConfiKids provides funding for those who are eligible to partake in programs to increase confidence and ability.

Dance Therapy

At PTU we see a lot of dancers with overuse injuries.  Some of these injuries are common but easily avoidable.  One of our Doctors of Physical Therapy, Cassie, has an extensive background in dance and has taught many Master Classes as well as was the former Dance Coach at Bridgewater State University.  Cassie combines her knowledge of the human body and dance and is able to create classes and programs specific to dancers.  If you are interested in having Cassie host a class or multiple sessions for your dancer(s) please reach out to kelly@ptuclinic.com

Strength and Conditioning

We offer both group and 1:1 strength and conditioning sessions with Eddie, Anthony and Steph. Strength and Conditioning is a way of working out that focuses on movement quality to improve performance. This can mean performance for the athlete or for the every day average human just getting around comfortably! A strength and conditioning coach will help you to develop better movement patterns to help prevent injury both on and off the field. A strength and conditioning session might include plyometrics, speed and agility, mobility, core stability, endurance, and weight training! Ask about training at your next visit! Sessions are $60 for 40 minutes of 1 on 1 work with Steph and Anthony! 1:1 with Eddie is $100 as he is both a strength and conditioning coach and physical therapy assistant and will combine both knowledge bases for his sessions.

Dry Needling

People experiencing pain, movement dysfunction, traumatic injuries, and repetitive pain-related injuries can find results and solutions through dry needling. A solid fine filament needle is used to address musculoskeletal deficits found during a movement analysis by your therapist. Benefits of dry needling include pain reduction, improved mobility, and normalization of muscle activation patterns needed for healthy, functional movement. Also known as Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS), dry needling is a unique therapy often administered in tandem with traditional physical therapy exercises. It works by targeting trigger points and muscle dysfunction to alleviate pain and reduce muscle tension. The technique speeds up recovery times significantly. Often, patients will see an immediate improvement in range of motion.

Myofascial Therapy

Trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures create myofascial restrictions that can produce pain and limitations that normal therapy cannot always address. “Fascial” refers to the connective tissue that covers and supports the muscles throughout your entire body. During myofascial release therapy, your therapist doesn’t focus specifically on your muscles. They focus on releasing tension in your fascial tissues. It is a type of gentle, constant energy work that releases tightness and pain throughout your myofascial tissues. First, your healthcare provider will locate trigger points, or knots, in your fascial tissues. Then, they’ll gently apply pressure until they feel the tension release. These sessions last approximately 40 minutes each.

Call to schedule $100 a session or 6 for $525!

What is a Recovery Session?

A recovery session includes 30-40 minutes of hands on therapy/massage to a targeted area of your body which is then followed by 20-40 minutes of NormaTec air compression therapy. A recovery session will help your muscles recover faster and for you to feel better. Whether you ran a road race, started a new activty that got you sore or just need a quick tune-up, a Recovery Session can get you feeling better fast!

What is OT?

Occupational Therapy is similar to PT in that it helps you gain back function. Our OT’s Robin and Mary Ellen specifically help people with finger, hand, wrist and elbow pain/problems and concerns. OT’s will assess the area to determine what’s going on and then determine what exercises and hands on techniques will help you to gain full and unlimited use again.

We have OT available in Bridgewater and Buzzards Bay!
